Is this a game for preverts?
Not only is WAIFU STAHP: Kekkon Kiken a non-violent game, but it also is not sexualized. It's fun for the whole family!
If you're looking for something a bit more... skeevy, there's a whole world of greasy content for you on Steam and elsewhere. This is just a goofy game.
How are you looking for funding?
The plan is to have a Kickstarter campaign with a base goal of $10,000, which will cover the base game being made with a bit of polish. Above that, and there will be extra levels, New Game +, extra defenses, new music, etc.
It will probably be launched very soon.
What's this about "elements?"
There's a wide range of types of defenses that can be used, of which I can only think of calling "elements" right now.
Greasy, spicy, cute (dog, cat), nerdy, etc.
Some Waifus are very weak against certain defenses and some gain power from them, as is with real humans. That stamp collection you have? Beware, as sometimes it can be the marriage instigator.
How large will this game be?
The base plan is for the tutorial to be three levels and for two campaigns that are 12 levels each. One campaign will be in Tokyo and the other will feature different prefectures.
My main fundraising goal will be just for the base set of 25 levels, but we have stretch goals planned to bring the first campaign to 23 levels (one for each ward) and 47 (one for each prefecture) for the second. I also want to make a bonus set of unlockable levels that are focused on cherry blossom locations across Japan. The plan is for these to be smaller and focus more on letting players get a glimpse of the beauty the country offers than the infrastructure or popular locations.
To answer this question succinctly:
The size will be based on funding, but the hope is that it'll have 73 large levels with at least 50 smaller, unlockable levels.
Are there really going to be over 100 defenses?
Well, we're treating each upgrade as a separate defense because these are more than a generic upgrade. Different upgrades from the same base item can have different "elemental" impacts and each will have a different amount of distraction or disgustion. It's up to the player to play around and experiment with these to figure out how best to complete each level.
How the system works is there will be around 30 base defenses that can be upgraded in various ways. The upgrade tree will increase in size as you play through the game.
Who's making this game?
This will be announced soon. I'm posting elements of the game before going fully public in order to have a bit more fun.
Why do /you/ think you're qualified to make a game?
It's funny that you mention that, because I'm certainly not qualified enough to make this whole game by myself.
To publish this as a full game, I'm going to need to reach out (and pay) others to make assets, fix bugs, and implement mechanics. At this point, I pretty much have everything working, but there are more things I'd like to add to the game and changes that might be necessary that are above my skill level.
More funding means a bigger game with more cool stuff and more fun mechanics.
